Australian Complementary Health Association Practitioner Guide
This is a list of practitioners of natural and complementary healthcare who have chosen to list themselves on the Diversity website.
All practitioners listed in this guide are members of the Australian Complementary Health Association. However, listing in this guide does not constitute an endorsement by the Australian Complementary Health Association of the practitioner or their ability. The Australian Complementary Health Association is not a professional association; it is a common interest and advocacy group; and membership is open to all people who support ACHA's aims.
We believe that the majority of practitioners of complementary, natural, traditional, or alternative therapies, as well as practitioners of conventional medicine, in Australia, are well trained and abide by professional standards of practice and ethics. Nevertheless, the consumer can at times be at risk from unqualified, under-qualified, inexperienced, unethical or even unscrupulous practitioners.
It is important therefore for the consumer to assess the quality of a practitioner as well as the usefulness of a discipline, for themselves.
To assist here, this guide provides details about a practitioner's training and professional memberships. As ACHA believes that most practitioners are ethical and honest, we have not independently checked a practitioner's information about qualifications and professional memberships. We recommend that, if you have any concerns about the competency or ethics of a particular practitioner, you should check the veracity of their credentials.
If you are a practitioner, and would like to be listed in this guide, fill in and send the ACHA membership form, and an application form for your website listing will be sent to you.

More tips on searching
In general, the more detail you specify in each part of the search form, the fewer results will be retrieved. For example, if you specify Acupuncture (discipline) and St Kilda (town/suburb) you will retrieve only practitioners of acupuncture who also practice in St Kilda, not all practitioners of acupuncture as well as all practitioners located in St Kilda.
The exception to this rule is in the facility to specify up to three disciplines your search. If you search for Acupuncture or Chinese Medicine - Traditional or Shiatsu this will retrieve the set of practitioners who practice any of these disciplines. This list will then be limited by other requirements you set, i.e. which state they are in. The same goes for town/suburb searching, whereby you may specify three locations - practitioners who practice at any of the given locations will be retrieved, as opposed to the smaller list of practitoners who practice at all of the given locations.
